1993

Prize motivation: for their work for the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa.
Role: President of South Africa after the end of Apartheid.

Mandela and Frederik Willem de Klerk received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 “for their work for the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa".

They are almost  twenty one years since February 1990 when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and in the first page of the South African newspapers there was the image of his handshake with Frederik de Klerk. We must take into consideration these two great men for their courage and for their work for the peaceful resolution of the apartheid regime and also for creating of a new democratic South Africa.

"Dignified work is not only related to the right to survive but also to thrive and have a satisfactory life. This right must be accessible to all"

Mandela with this words wanted to say that the  dignified  work is founded on the search of personal dignity, in the presence of democracies that are working in favor of  achievement of economic growth that increases the opportunities  of productive jobs and enterprise development. In addition, the dignified  work supports that the purpose of wellbeing  is to eliminate poverty. So we must commit ourselves to make these things!

In  1895 Alfred Nobel wrote that the Peace Prize could be awarded to the person who, in the preceding year << Shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations >>.

On the basis of this statement The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 1994  to Yasser Arafat, Shimon Peres  and Yitzhak Rabin, for their efforts to create peace in the Middle East through a political act which demanded great courage by both the parts.
They have made a significant contribution to a historical process through which peace,  collaboration,  fraternity can replace war, hate and the many religious and cultural differences.
The situation in the Middle East
For many years , the conflict between Israel and its neighbors, and between Israelis and Palestinians, has been one of  the most irreconcilable and menacing in international politics. A battle that goes on the formation of the State of Israel that  was established at the end of World War II. The State was created with the intention to donate to the Jews, persecuted and exterminated by the Nazi madness, a homeland, so that the Jews wont be longer forced into the Diaspora.  But the new state has never been recognized by the Palestinians.  The differences between Israelis and Palestinians have always been prominent, not only the religious differences, but especially economic. This led to the particular dynamics in the frequent and incessant fighting, Israel is a rich country using a well-equipped and trained army, while the Palestine lashes out at him, his most fanatical suicide bombers.
Unfortunately, despite the hard work of these three major characters that were able to reach a short period of peace between their countries,  still today the Palestinian situation is not resolved.

Vegan - For the People - For the Planet - For the Animals...What is your choice?

Hello everyone! We saw this video at school and we thought we'd share it with you to discuss the problems facing our planet ! is there a way to save the world that is hosting us?
G&G

I agree with the first part of this video. I agree with the idea that it is important to recycle because the earth's resources are limited and we must share then   with future generations. I think it's important to not pollute  with harmful products the earth, the air and the water, because by doing so, we safeguard our health as well as the planet! Today we live in a world dominated by the  consumerism, we must learn to save it! It is good to be careful about energy consumption, sometimes the small gestures seem unnecessary, but  those  small things, often overlooked by all, that can save the world! For this reason we must turn off the lights or close the tap when not in use! It is equally important to not exaggerate in the purchase of food! We must remember that while one part of the world suffers from hunger, the other runs the risk of diseases such as obesity! They are very common in affluent countries cardiovascular disease and cancer... that if at  the beginning  were rare events, nowadays are becoming more common... and  surely are closely linked to our diet! I think it is necessary to have a balanced diet! That includes lots of fruits and vegetables, but that does not exclude meat, fish, milk and eggs!! Humans have always been nourished by these foods and they  have  always been an omnivorous animals! I do not judge those who decide to be vegan, but I think that to save the world it is not necessary to abandon the many flavors that fill our tables!

Now I'm going to talk about the possible solutions: what can we do to stop this?
About the production of energy I think that the country has an important role: it can produce energy through nuclear power plants (in this period we know how much they are danger) or through renewable energy sources like the sun or the wind and they are certainly not lacking in our beautiful country!
An other way to help the planet is: recycling.
Sometimes, when we use something, we throw it in the fire and it’s not a positive thing: in fact we must get used to do the differentiated waste disposal so that we try to recycle that thing and to use it again!
So we must learn that everything is precious and we must not waste anything. We must commit ourselves so that we could live in a cleaner society!

Our interests and our passions

Hello everyone :) We are two girls and we attend the secondary school! we like being together and chatting with people, so we decided to publish our interests and our passions to be able to discuss with you all and to have a mutual exchange of ideas. We are two very different girls, with as many different interests (as you could see!!!) but at the same time we have learned to be friends because it is the diversity that makes the world beautiful!!!
G & G

Sport is my passion. I practiced volleyball since I was 6 years old till 3 years ago and I think that it was so important for me because thanks to it I grew up and I became less shy. Moreover I knew a lot of people that now I know very well and I agree with them… So it’s important to socialize and to make friends.

I said that I like sport: well, for some years my interess is football. Since I saw juve playing ( my favourite football team ) I understood that football is for me!

I follow my team every week and the championship too, even the champions league matchs!!!! And every year, I take the opportunity to go watching my Juve in Cagliari and every time it’s a big emotion!
I have another passion: the passion for rock music! Maybe it’s thanks to my brother Stefano, who made me realize how much this music had a meaning.

I think that groups like Guns’N’Roses, Queen, Led Zeppelin , Ac/dc etc made rock story! Each time it’is a unique experience to listen to these songs and to sing at the top of one’s voice!
Unfortunately, today the people tend to underestimate the actual text of a song to give importance to the melody or lyrics that have not logical meaning.

I've always been a quiet girl! I like to relax me by reading a good book! Many consider to read a boring task, or closely linked to school! Not so! I love reading, because I can visit through the books the different worlds and cultures that otherwise I would not ever get the chance to know. With the books I can try so many different emotions, and I can fly my imagination without limits! Because I am mistress of my thoughts! Instead, this can not happen when you watch the television!

I read all kinds of books, often ones that my mother recommend me because she shares this passion with me!

I like to travel, in Italy and abroad.
My dream would be to go around the world, to discover the colors, smells, sounds and culture of every nation!
I would like to visit the Far East, so geographically distant from us, but closer together thanks the globalization. I am fascinated by India, so different and complicated to form a world apart. And then Egypt and its ancient history. I've always wanted to travel and finally I have the opportunity to get to know a country and its language, the country where it says that everything is possible!
United States of America!

A significant film for us young!

SPAEK

Today unfortunately brutal actions has made especially by adolescents because being an adolescent is very difficult.
At school we saw a film where there was an example of this: the protagonist was Melinda Sordino, a girl who is fourteen years old that was raped by Andy Evans. We think that today these problems should never happen, although unfortunately these things happen in adolescence because teenagers are too irresponsible.
Exactly for this reason Melinda withdrew into herself and she could not discuss about her problem with her parents and her friends: so she was in trouble to communicate with the other people.
We really liked this movie: it has given us so many emotions and it made us  reflect about the drama of the story. The basic theme of the film, underscored by the title itself, is the importance of communication during the critical age of the adolescence. Maybe if Melinda had spoken with someone of her great and terrible secret, she could have exorcised and get rid of the burden of violence. For Melinda the sexual violence affected on her character.
The inability to express themselves and communicate is a big problem for young people, especially the relationship with the adults who seem to live in a world completely different from ours. This also implies a state of solitude.
